Musical Monday...

My Demons by Starset

After attending Northern Invasion this weekend, I found a new favorite band - Starset.  They were probably my favorite & they were the second band we watched.  They were really good & my friend, Krista, & I liked the lead singer & tried to let him know that we would be okay if he decided to remove his shirt cuz he looked pretty warm working it on stage.  Ha!

My weekend was VERY busy.  As soon as I got home on Friday, I changed & we were on the road to drop Sunshine off with her mother for the weekend.  We went out to eat, picked up Paul's parents' Impala for our travels to Somerset, got some goods from the store, Paul then dropped me off at home so I could get ready for bed while he went to visit a friend for a little bit.

Saturday, was Northern Invasion.  I'll do a blog dedicated to just that later but I will tell you this:  Denny's made it my birthday & Five Finger Death Punch almost made it my "death-day".  Intrigued?  You'll just have to wait for the details.

Yesterday was Mother's Day.  I ended up sleeping until about 12:30 as we didn't get home & in bed until about 3:00 in the a.m.  I got up, started a load of laundry, went to my mama's to drop off part of her gift (a hibiscus plant), then we went to my grandparents' to bring my grandma her gifts (gerber daisy plant) & to visit for a bit.  Then I dropped my mom off at home & went to bring my mother-in-law her gift (another plant - don't know the flowers though).  At this time, it was almost 6:00 & I had not received Mother's Day wishes from my husband or stepdaughters.  I was getting rather upset.

When I got home though, Sunshine gave me a gift:

Homemade body scrub

I had to use it right away & it worked rather well!  :)  She also posted these nice things about me on Facebook & Instagram:

Do you see that - best stepmother.  Yea, that's me!  Ha!  So, like usual, Sunshine made me feel appreciated.  Still nothing from Trouble & Paul just bought me a banana cream pie from Kwik Trip (I'm still pretty ticked about that, by the way).  I went about my typical Sunday night activities - laundry, etc.  I didn't get anything from Trouble until about 2:00 this morning:

& yes, that is Ariel on my background.  Tee hee!  So, I was happier when I woke up to see that from Trouble this morning cuz I was really upset that she didn't say anything to me at all.  I didn't need anything more than a "Happy Mother's Day" from her & I got that.

So yea, that was my weekend.  :)

  1. Awww... I love that she was showing you off on social media! :) And homemade scrub... yes, please!!!

    1. & you know what, if she only would have done one of those things, I would have been happy but she did all of that. She's a great kid. :)

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli (I like the new button, by the way!) &/or Liz.

My five this week are five Christmas gifts that I got for Sunshine.
  1.  Adidas pants.  I had more thing to get her & she mentioned at her gymnastics meeting that she wanted a pair of these.  I got online & picked her up a pair ending my Christmas shopping for her.
  2.  Paper lanterns.  They were on sale one day at The Walmart & I couldn't resist getting them for her to hang in her bedroom.

  3.  A wax warmer & melts.  She has her bedroom upstairs & we don't allow candle burning up there were it cannot be watched.  Plus, with the mess a teenage girl makes, something is bound to catch on fire.  Anywho, so I got her this warmer and some melts that she can use to make things smell all nice & stuff.  :)

  4.  A Pink sweatshirt & matching socks.  I …

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got my Christmas cards all out last Friday & that people have already been receiving them!  Now, it's my turn to receive some cards to hang on the front door.  I love receiving them & looking at all the smiling faces & reading the fun "family letters" especially from my aunt, Nellie.  :)

I am thankful...that I got to have a nice evening with my mom & her boyfriend last night.  I had to drop off Sunshine's Christmas gift & pick up her pet carrier so I could take all three cats to the vet this morning so she fed me one of my favorite meals that I never get to have at home - tuna casserole.  & then when I got home, Jill was on her way over so I chatted with her, helped Sunshine with her outfit for tomorrow (she has to dress up as the gymnastics team has a meet this weekend) & then to bed to read & such.

I am thankful...for this coloring book that I got Trouble as part of her Christmas present.  I looked through it yes…

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli &/or April.

My five this week is ways to stay warm when it's frickin' freezin' in Central Wisconsin.

  1.  Drinking warm beverages - coffee, cocoa, tea.  Add some Rum Chata or Baileys for a lil extra warmth.

  2.  Set yourself on fire...or sit really close to a fire &/or space heater.

  3.  Take a long hot bath maybe enjoy your warm beverage as like Olaf is doing.

  4.  Bundle up like Randy does in A Christmas Story - "I can't put my arms down!"

  5.  Just stay in your nice warm bed snuggled up with your cats & a good book or Netflix.
