IMDB's summary: "In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds - and remembers."
My thoughts: I expected it to be scary than it was...maybe I'm dulled now to scares but it just didn't scare me enough. I thought that it could have been maybe taken down a little bit, it seemed really long in parts. However, I really liked the cast that they had for the movie, I thought they all did well & I like all the actors, so that helped a lot.
I thought that all the characters were well liked except for Lucille played by Jessica Chastain (who I always confuse with Bryce Dallas Howard) but you aren't supposed to like her, she's evil & you know that she's a bit off from the first moment you see her. I thought that Tom Hiddleston portrayed the dark & mysterious Thomas quite well. Mia Wasikowska was quite believable as the young, naive but intelligent, Edith. & Charlie Hunnam was so great as the caring & loving Dr. Alan McMichael, I love him. :)
