Friday Five...

Thank...frickin'...God...IT'S FRIDAY!  I've had a pretty rough week & last night was no better, I slept like crap (couldn't turn my brain off or get comfortable cuz everyone was in my area!) & now, my left arm hurts so bad from whatever position I had it in.  Ugh!

So, I've decided that my Friday Five will be from my Nerds Unite board on Pinterest.  I'm going with the clothes/accessories that I want that show my nerdiness off.

  1.  Necklaces from Divergent.  I really want the one for Candor as I figure that would be the faction I would be in if I were to be in that fantasy world.  :)

  2.  Smaug necklace from The Hobbit.  I love Smaug more than anyone probably should love a giant dragon that killed dwarfs, took their gold & land.

  3.  Harry Potter hoodie.  I've had this on my Pinterest for a very long time.  I have yet to try to find it.  I mean, really, how cool is that?!  I think it's pretty cool but, well, I'm a nerd.  Ha!

Thankful Thursday...

After my last posting about feeling sorry for myself, there is more of a need for me to come up with some things that I am thankful for on this day...

I am thankful...that I can get my feelings out in a post & hopefully get some feedback that will help me get back on track & to stop feeling sorry for myself.

I am thankful...that my bosslady will be back next week after being on vacation for two weeks.  I've really missed her.  It's awesome that I've been able to get fully caught up & even have time to start reviewing/organizing files but she can come back now.

I am thankful...that the weekend is in sight.  I really wanna go out for some drinks on Friday night after we get Sunshine off to do her thing with her friends.

I am thankful...that tomorrow is payday as I have emptied all my funds to make/order photo books from 2010 to 2015.  It'll be much better when I only need to do them one at a time...I should have started this a long time ago.  Money well spent, I…

Being A Stepparent...

To anyone who's read me before knows that I have two stepdaughters - Trouble (17) & Sunshine (14).  For those that haven't read me before, I'll give you a little backstory or refresher if you've been around these parts before.  Anywho, I started dating their father, Paul, back in June of 2010 so the girls were 12 & 9.  Paul has had primary placement of the girls pretty much since their mother/his ex-wife moved out of the home.  I'll call her SLW (her initials).  She was in & out of the girls' lives, moving to other states or different cities for guys while living her daughters back.  She was never all that involved whatsoever.  I came around & it was a long time before Paul would let me even be around his daughters, which I understood, he didn't want them to get attached if things didn't work out.

Well, I started coming over & spending time with them & doing things with them, going to school activities, helping with homework, sh…

It's Wednesday So That Means...

I confess...that I want it to be my birthday RIGHT NOW!  I still have to wait until next Thursday for the birthday festivities to begin.  #IWishItWasMyBirthdayEveryday #ButIDontWantToGetOlder

I confess...that while making photo books for the past five years, I've really come to miss the girl that Trouble used to be & I'm hopeful that someday, that girl will come back.  In the meantime, I just gotta keep doing my thing.  #WhyDoPeopleHaveToChange #BringBackMyMiniMe

I confess...that even the thought of throwing some salsa & chicken in the crockpot for supper sounds like too much work.  #IdRatherEatMcDonalds #IWannaBeLazy

I confess...while seeing the Kristen Bell GIF, that I have never seen the Veronica Mars movie yet.  I was all excited when it was to be released & I still have not seen it.  #BadVMFan #DontHateMeKristen

Book & A Cuppa Swap Reveal...

I love me a good swap so as soon as I saw this, I had to sign up immediately.

I got hooked up with Lisa from Ramblings Of The Cool Chick.  It was so much fun shopping for her goodies but one thing I forgot to ask her, if she had a Keurig so I could have gotten her some K-cups.  Oh well.  However, I got a message on Monday from her that she got her package but that her coffee mug was broken.  So, I asked her where her nearest Walmart was & ordered her something extra special for her troubles.  I felt so bad.  I did learn a valuable lesson though, bubble wrap, have bubble wrap.

Anywho, on to my goodies:

She really got me some excellent things:  a beautiful polka-dot travel mug (which I badly needed as all of mine have disappeared), some treats (which the Snickers have already been broken in to), cute lil elephant bookmarks (again, which I needed cuz I couldn't find my other bookmark), a journal & some cool gel pens & An Abundance of Katherines!  I am SO excited to read …

Musical Monday / Weekend Update...

If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher
Don't ask me why I choose this song, I just did cuz, well, it's my favorite Cher song & who doesn't want a little Cher in their Monday?
Anywho, my weekend was pretty uneventful.  I got to start it off with having the house to myself on Friday night.  Paul took Sunshine to her mother & than he went out for a little bit with a friend.  I picked up some greasy fast food, put on my jammies right away & plopped my butt on the couch for the remainder of the evening.  It was pretty dang nice.
Saturday, Paul got me out of bed early with pancakes (the only reason I'll get outta bed early on a weekend is for breakfast plans - ha!).  I then hung out for a bit, did some grocery shopping & then came home to watch the first two episodes of Chelsea Does on Netflix.  I've really missed Chelsea Handler.  After Paul was done working, we went out for a couple of drinks, dinner & then to see The 5th Wave (my review can be found her…

My Thoughts On...

IMDB's summary:  "Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother."

My thoughts:  the first time I saw a preview for this movie, I immediately downloaded the book to my Kindle & read it.  I enjoyed the book & could not wait to see the movie.

In the book, there was some mystery to it, some information that you had to work for.  In the movie, they just gave it to you right away.  I was not pleased with that whatsoever.  & things happened in the movie that didn't in the book & I go in expecting that to happen but I'm always upset about it.

I love lil Miss Chloe Grace & I think that she was a great pick to play the main character, Cassie, but my favorite pick as far as casting was that of Vosch with Liev Schreiber.  I think that he's pretty great & he has a presence about him that playing a "man in charge" is a great role for…

It's Wednesday So That Means...

I confess...that I'm kinda jealous of the birthday gift I got my cousin, "Z" - a Darth Vader blanket & then Darth Vader & Son & Goodnight Darth Vader.  At Christmas, he got excited that he had Star Wars wrapping paper on his gift from us & then I saw a video of him reciting lines from the movies.  So, I knew I had to get him Star Wars stuff.  #NerdMakingFutureNerds #StarWarsForever

I confess...that the closer I get to my birthday, the more excited I'm getting & not because I'll be a year older but because of the fun things I have planned - spa time the morning of my birthday, Madison for the Badger basketball the evening of my birthday & then Saturday evening dinner plans with some of my favoritest people.  #ILikeGettingSpoiled  #IsItFebruaryFourthYet

I confess...that getting a sausage biscuit for breakfast this morning from McDonald's really made my morning.  #ThanksGreg #McDonaldsBreakfastRules

I confess...I just really want to "Ne…

Tuesday Talk...

Okay, this topic for this week's Tuesday Talk might get a little heated & such but I just want to start off by saying that this is my opinion on the subject.  If you don't agree, that's fine but please do not attack me & my beliefs as I will not do the same to you.  Thank you.

With that said, my husband is on the mailing list for a local Lutheran school as Trouble had gone there for about two seconds (don't get me started on that!).  Well, this morning he gets an email & a new part of their application is this:

"Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
___ ___ ___ We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
___ ___ ___ God gave marriage as a picture of the relationship between Christ and His bride the church (Eph. 5:32). We b…

Musical Monday / Weekend Update...

Brass Monkey by Beastie Boys
Lately, I've been into some Beastie Boys action.  I heard Brass Monkey one day on the radio & it's been my earworm lately.  So, hopefully yall get this little diddy stuck in your head as well.
As for my weekend, it was kind of "eh".  It started off fine each day but by the end of the nights on Friday & Saturday, I was in bed & emotionally exhausted.
Friday, Paul & I went out for a couple of drinks & supper & then he choose this time to try to talk to me about the issues with Trouble.  Long story, short, I just kept telling him that when I was ready to talk to her, that I would & that I couldn't put a time table on it but at that moment, I was not ready to speak with her.  He made me feel guilty & I told him, that if he & Sunshine wanted Trouble back in the house, I would bow out as I do not want to live under the same roof as her.  So, I went to bed crying & he went to talk to Greg.
Saturday, Ji…

Friday Five...

I read in a blog last week about how the "Friday Five" theme is all Stepford-like & that cracked me up & I'm glad to be apart of it.  Ha, ha!

Anywho, my Friday Five this week is all about the music.  Here are the five of my favorite tunes that I've recently added to my Spotify list:

  1.  Lake Superior by The Arcs.  The band came up with this song after watching Making a Murderer & since I'm all about Wisconsin & their famous murderers & such, I had to give it a listen.  I added it to my playlist without hearing it first & did actually like it so WINNING!  :)

  2.  Clap Snap by Icona Pop.  I heard this song at the dance recital that Sunshine & I went to last weekend & I love it.  I played it for "K" last night & she really liked it too...which I knew that she would.  She has good taste in music already at the age of nine!  Makes this "aunt" proud!

  3.  Slip by Eliott Moss.  This song I heard at Sunshine…

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got to have a relaxing evening last night - McDonald's for supper (no cooking for me & little cleanup), an episode & a half of Grimm with Sunshine (I say "half" as the DVR acted up & we couldn't finish it) & then on the couch to watch The Martian with my hubby (my review is here).

I am thankful...that I have lunch plans with Jill today.  Anytime that I can spend with her is good.  I think that we're gonna go to a local coffee shop for soup & a sandwich.  Yum!

I am thankful...that after I drop "K" off at Girl Scouts tonight for Jill, that I'm gonna be going to get my hair done.  Awhoo hoo!  A new cut & color.  It's always exciting to know that tomorrow my hair will be different than it is right now.  Ha, ha!

I am thankful...again, for my space heater.  It's the best thing in the world during these frickin' freezin' months here in Wisconsin.  However, I sometimes have to use it during the sum…

My Thoughts On...

IMDB's summary:  "During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive."

My thoughts:  I was pleasantly surprised with this movie.  When I first saw the previews & such, it didn't really get my attention, it's when I kept reading how much people really enjoyed it that I thought about maybe checking it out.  I didn't read the book & I most likely won't but I thought the movie was pretty good.

Although, Donald Glover wasn't in it much, I loved his character...well, I just really like him since he was on Community.  Ha!  But I thought the entire cast was pretty dang good.  Plus, Sean Bean's character didn't die!  Anytime I see him in something, I just f…

It's Wednesday So That Means...

I confess...that it feels like I was just doing a Wednesday post.  #TimeIsFlyin #IfTimeIsFlyinWheresItFlyinTo

I confess...that I don't want to make supper tonight & that I just want to pick up some fast food, get in my jammies & plop in front of the TV to watch Grimm with Sunshine & then maybe some Heroes with Paul.  #ItsTooColdToDoAnything #IWantToBeLazy

I confess...even with my space heater blasting on me, I'm still frickin' freezin'.  What the heck?!  I'm chilled to the damn bone!  Brrr!  #WhyDoILiveInWisconsinInJanuary #TooDamnColdToFunction

I confess...that I finally got the correct size bracelet for my charms & I'm wearing it & I feel a little like a gypsy with all the jingling & such.  #ImAGypsy #LoveIt

I confess...that I'm really gonna be spoiling myself the next week.  I have a hair appointment tomorrow evening & then my monthly hot stone massage on Monday evening with a tanning appointment or two sprinkled in there.  #INeed…

Tuesday Talk...

Hmmm...what to talk about on this day's Tuesday Talk...I'm not real sure.  So, I hit up my Bloggin' board on Pinterest for an idea.  I found "List 10 Things That Make You Really Happy".  So, I think that I'm gonna go with it.  These are in no particular order.

  1.  Music.  If I could listen to music all day, everyday, I totally would.  That's why Spotify is the best $15 or so that I spend every month.  I typically listen to Comedy Radio in the morning before work to start the day off with some giggles.  :)

  2.  Tattoos.  If my job/savings account allowed it, I would be covered.  Okay, maybe not covered but I would have more.  I currently have ten & I cannot wait to add to my "collection".  I am hopeful to have my next one done before spring comes.

  3.  Reading/Books.  Now, anytime that I'm not listening to music, I would like to be reading...sometimes I even like to listen to some Classical music while reading.  It helps me keep out …

CG Swaps: Book & A Cuppa Swap...

If you know anything about me, you know that I love me a good swap.  They are SO much fun & a great way to meet other bloggers.  So, when I saw this on Olga's The Siberian American blog, I KNEW that I had to participate!

If you wanna join, head on over here & check out the rules & such.

Now, I'm off to add new books to my Amazon Wish List!  Awhoo hoo!

Musical Monday / Weekend Update...

Jeremy by Pearl Jam
I've been listening to the Throwback Thursday playlist on Spotify & I'm really diggin' all the Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, etc.  So, yall get a Pearl Jam song for the day.  Enjoy.
My weekend was pretty uneventful.  Friday, the hubby & I went out to the casino for supper & some gambling - I actually won this time!  Awhoo hoo!  I'll got enough to pay for my hair appointment this week so that makes me happy.  We then stopped at a friend's house for a little bit of visiting & Paul had to pull me away from the Star Wars puzzle that was on the table.  Ha!
Saturday, after picking up Sunshine from her friend's, we went out for lunch & then Paul went out with a friend while Sunshine & I hung out at home.  She did her teenage thing while I worked on getting the gel polish off my nails ALL AFTERNOON while catching up on Jimmy.  We then went to a dance recital, got home & got ready for bed.
Sunday was Sunshine's …

Friday Five...

It seems like FOREVER since I've done a Friday Five due to my holiday break.  Today my FF will just be five things that are currently on my mind.

1.  Heroes.  The hubby & I started the final season of Heroes & I know that I shouldn't but I love Sylar...well, I love Zachary Quinto.  I think that he's amazing - those eyebrows!  Ha!  But hope to finish up the season real quicklike so we can start the Heroes Reborn that are waiting for us on the DVR.  :)

2.  Now, cake.  Thanks a lot, Sylar.  Now, I want me some funfetti vanilla cake with chocolate frosting...or German Chocolate...no funfetti.  I love funfetti cake, it's the best.  Yummy!

3.  Apparently, this post is going from Heroes to food cuz as I'm going through looking for a cute GIF for Friday night I find this & now I want some crab legs.  It's too expensive to eat out but dammit, it sure sounds delish!  Also, I would love to be introduced to Ariel.  Ha!

4.  I'm happy for the weekend.  Nothi…

Currently...

I found this lil linkup over at Love, Fun and Football by Ms. Erin (who I adore).  Anywho, if there is anything everyone here should know, I love me a good linkup.  So, I picked this one up - a day late - but gonna do it anyway & now have it on the calendar for next month.  :)

I'm currently resolving...that I spend less time on social media & more time reading.  I'm also trying to relax more.  I need to take more time for me.  So, the last couple of months I've been going in around mid-month for a ninety minute hot stone massage.  They are the best & I always look forward to them.

I'm currently reading...The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey.  I'm 78% done with it & I cannot wait to finish it.  I've been reading it way too long.  I've enjoyed it but just have not sat down enough to read it.  So, I hope to finish it by the end of this week & start up a James Patterson book.

I'm currently organizing...yearly photos.  I got all the pictures from 20…

It's Wednesday So That Means...

I confess...that I was SO excited to see that season four of New Girl is now on Netflix & I season five already recording on the DVR.  Another show to get caught up on...I'm up to the challenge.  #IHeartSchmidt #NetflixIsTheBest

I confess...that I cried last night when I got my new, bigger bracelet for my charms & it was still too small.  I ordered an inch larger!  Now I have to go another inch larger.  The people at Amazon are gonna get pissed soon.  #IJustWannaWearMyCharmsDammit #MustHaveFatWrists

I confess...this whole posting will have nothing but GIFs from New Girl.  You'll deal with it & like it, dammit!  #NewGirlRocks #SorryNotSorry

I confess...that I am WAY too excited for my birthday gift from my hubby - tickets to the Wisconsin Badger / Ohio State basketball game on my birthday!  I'm gonna start my birthday off with the morning at the spa & then home to get ready to head down to Madison for the evening.  #AwhooHoo #OnWisconsin
