Musical Monday / Weekend Update...

So, my weekend was a decent one - I cannot complain too much about it.  I started it off with some grocery shopping right after work on Friday & then home to an empty house to clean off the DVR & just enjoy some peace & quiet.

Having some wine with Jimmy.  ;)

Saturday, Paul & I woke up & then took a trip to Home Depot to look at some stuff but we came out empty handed.  We had no plans & we had joked about driving to Madison just to eat at Chick-Fil-A.  We were almost home & Paul said:  "get showered, pack a bag, we're going down to Madison".  I gladly agreed.  I love Madison!  On the way down, I contacted my friend, Aaron, to see if he, his wife & son would be around for some visitors (we haven't seen them in over a year!).  Luckily, they were available.  So, Paul & I went for lunch & then headed to visit.

When we got to their house, Aaron was waiting outside & I was so excited to see him.  Him & I have been friends for probably ten years.  I was there for him through his divorce from a girl I was friends with first (she & I are no longer friends for many, many reasons).  He's a great guy & I'm so happy that he has a wonderful wife now, Eryn, & a fun lil guy.

We just hung out, he & Paul played with his new toy in the backyard - a crossbow - while Eryn & I sat on the deck talking & watching "B".  Even for a lil bit I got to have some alone time with them while Paul ran to the Walmart.  I've missed them so much & I'm so glad that I finally got to meet "B" face-to-face.

We left their place shortly after 5:00 & headed back to Madison to get supper at Red Lobster.  I never liked eating there because I wasn't into seafood until I got introduced to crab legs, so I went there happily.  We did have to wait an hour & a half but spent some time out in the car just resting before we ate.

It was such a great unexpected great day that we both very much needed.  I loved every moment of it!  :)

Yesterday was the usual deal - slept in a bit, did chores, watched a little TV, took a bath, painted my nails & then got in bed to watch The Walking Dead.  I don't know about you but I felt a little awkward watching the end of it.  :\

  1. Chik fil a is totally worht a trip. Even better catching up with friends!

    1. I know, right?! It really was a great day. I'm just sad that I didn't get any pictures of the visit & their lil guy.

  2. Yes! I am all about a road trip for CFA!! How far is your drive?

    1. Ours is about two hours away. I thought of you right away when my hubby said that we were going down there with main reason being Chick-fil-A. Ha, ha!

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli (I like the new button, by the way!) &/or Liz.

My five this week are five Christmas gifts that I got for Sunshine.
  1.  Adidas pants.  I had more thing to get her & she mentioned at her gymnastics meeting that she wanted a pair of these.  I got online & picked her up a pair ending my Christmas shopping for her.
  2.  Paper lanterns.  They were on sale one day at The Walmart & I couldn't resist getting them for her to hang in her bedroom.

  3.  A wax warmer & melts.  She has her bedroom upstairs & we don't allow candle burning up there were it cannot be watched.  Plus, with the mess a teenage girl makes, something is bound to catch on fire.  Anywho, so I got her this warmer and some melts that she can use to make things smell all nice & stuff.  :)

  4.  A Pink sweatshirt & matching socks.  I …

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got my Christmas cards all out last Friday & that people have already been receiving them!  Now, it's my turn to receive some cards to hang on the front door.  I love receiving them & looking at all the smiling faces & reading the fun "family letters" especially from my aunt, Nellie.  :)

I am thankful...that I got to have a nice evening with my mom & her boyfriend last night.  I had to drop off Sunshine's Christmas gift & pick up her pet carrier so I could take all three cats to the vet this morning so she fed me one of my favorite meals that I never get to have at home - tuna casserole.  & then when I got home, Jill was on her way over so I chatted with her, helped Sunshine with her outfit for tomorrow (she has to dress up as the gymnastics team has a meet this weekend) & then to bed to read & such.

I am thankful...for this coloring book that I got Trouble as part of her Christmas present.  I looked through it yes…

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli &/or April.

My five this week is ways to stay warm when it's frickin' freezin' in Central Wisconsin.

  1.  Drinking warm beverages - coffee, cocoa, tea.  Add some Rum Chata or Baileys for a lil extra warmth.

  2.  Set yourself on fire...or sit really close to a fire &/or space heater.

  3.  Take a long hot bath maybe enjoy your warm beverage as like Olaf is doing.

  4.  Bundle up like Randy does in A Christmas Story - "I can't put my arms down!"

  5.  Just stay in your nice warm bed snuggled up with your cats & a good book or Netflix.
