I'm doing my weekend in two parts as it was a long, fun weekend. If you missed Part I, you can read it here.
Friday - the alarm seemed to go off right after I put my head on the hotel pillow. I was up & ready to rock & roll by 9:45 as we were meeting my aunt, uncle & cousin for breakfast before venturing back to the grounds. We got into the elevator with a guy with a Slipknot crew member t-shirt & pass on him & I asked if he was ready to for that night. He simply replied: "oh yea" & then another guy got on that was most likely a roadie for Slipknot as the other guy knew him & he was carrying a guitar. A was able to snap a picture of their bus as we headed out.
We had a great breakfast & got ourselves into line & got some really excellent seats. We then went to hit up the merch. tent & I got myself a Disturbed tour t-shirt. Awhoo hoo!
Me & Aunt Julie.
It was another day of great performances:
Skillet.
Jen Ledger of Skillet.
I cried while Nothing More performed "Jenny", got really excited to see Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies (she is SO cool) & then when we realized that the guy I talked to in the elevator was actually the lead guitar player, Mick Thomson, of Slipknot, we were pretty dang pumped about that but nothing compared to the excitement I felt when I saw the Disturbed banner come down. I've been waiting for seventeen plus years to see them & they totally rocked the house. Honestly, I can die now, I'm happy! Ha!
Since Paul & I aren't real big fans of Slipknot (sorry, to all you that are), we listened to a couple of songs & to beat the rush out, we decided to leave early. I know, not very rocker of us. But I did get some great pictures before we left, here's my favorite:
The rocker girl in me was sad when I had to cut my wristbands off but the old lady in me was happy that I would not be going back for the third day of festivities. Ha!
Saturday - both Paul & I slept in to about noon, got up, picked up some McDonald's, showered, took Sunshine to a friend's & then since we didn't have the energy to do much else, we went to see Ghostbusters. You can read my thoughts on it here. Then we came home, to plop in front of the TV before heading off to bed.
Sunday - nothing spectacular except that Paul & I totally cleaned out the refrigerator, did our other usual chores around the house, watched the last couple episodes from season three of The Walking Dead & got ready for bed.
A pretty good weekend & now, all I want to do is go to music festivals but Paul told me that I would then be tired all the time from all the rockin' & such. So true, so true. :)
I love love love Nothing More, but I'm pretty sure that I've told you this already. I'm so happy you were finally able to see Disturbed!
ReplyDeleteNothing More was amazing! That guy has SO much energy, he was all over the place. My cousin said that he reminded him of Jim Morrison. I'd say that's a compliment. :)
