Musical Monday / Weekend Update...

Musical Monday:  Fly Away by Sugarland.  This song is "mine & Ashley's song" & since she came all the way up from Kentucky to spend the weekend with me, I knew it had to be this week's Musical Monday song.  :)

Weekend Update:

Thursday (the night she came in) - she was supposed to come in on Friday but with change of plans, I got her a night earlier.  Awhoo hoo!  Sunshine had no idea that Ashley was coming that night & even thought that she wasn't coming until this coming weekend.  So, when I walked around the corner with Ashley, Sunshine almost lost it.  It was so cute.  We then took Ashley out for dinner at Polito's where I ordered her the pizza/shirt combo with a Point Root Beer.

Then we drove around a little bit showing her around, brought her home where she got to meet our crazy neighbors (Greg, Jill & the kids) & then back to house where we hung out on the porch just chatting & such.

Friday - I went to work & my boss was super cool & let me work through my lunch & leave early to go spend more time with Ashley.  I got home, changed & then we headed out to one of our favorite spots - Jennings - for an early dinner.

We then ran to Walmart to get a few things & then headed back home to hang out on the porch & shoot the shit.

Saturday - we got up early & headed out to the local cheese factory to pick up some cheese cuz you cannot come to Wisconsin & not visit a cheese factory & get some cheese.

We then headed out for breakfast at The Wooden Chair.  The place is not only adorable but the grub is delicious!

We then walked around the Farmer's Market, picked up some flowers, took in downtown, then hung around the UWSP campus & went to walk the Schmeekle Reserve.

Paul's one request was that I take her to the O'so Brewery so we went there & got four beer samples to share.  The place was packed as it was a bottle release day but it was fun to watch all the different folks & try some beer - Prickly Pear for the win (for me anyway)!  :)

Since we couldn't take the Point Brewery tour that day, we got set to go on a tour on Sunday & then I decided that since we had some time, we would head to Wisconsin Dells.  Why not, right?  So, we hit up MACS for some awesome mac & cheese & then hit up the outlet mall so I could pick up a birthday gift for "D" from the Disney Store & then we headed home & hung out on the porch.

Sunday - we got up early again & I took her to another lil local diner for breakfast - Grandma's.  We loaded up on some carbs as we were taking the Point Brewery tour & then I introduced her to Fleet Farm & then we headed for the tour.  The tour was fabulous!  It cost $5.00 & you got the tour, THREE 10oz. samples & a glass - totally worth it!  We loved it & since we are both lightweights, we were feeling it when we left.  Ha!

Back to the house where we just took it easy the rest of the day - we ate some cheese, painted our nails, hung out on the porch & watched The Heat before retiring to bed.

It was an awesome couple of days that I got to spend with one of my bestest friends.  I really cherished it!  Plus, I love showing off the state I love.  If only we would have had more time to hit up Appleton &/or Madison.  Ahhh, I love those cities.  :)

PS - I must thank Ashley for the pictures of the food, she snapped all of those.  I was too busy digging in to snap pictures first.  Tee hee!

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli (I like the new button, by the way!) &/or Liz.

My five this week are five Christmas gifts that I got for Sunshine.
  1.  Adidas pants.  I had more thing to get her & she mentioned at her gymnastics meeting that she wanted a pair of these.  I got online & picked her up a pair ending my Christmas shopping for her.
  2.  Paper lanterns.  They were on sale one day at The Walmart & I couldn't resist getting them for her to hang in her bedroom.

  3.  A wax warmer & melts.  She has her bedroom upstairs & we don't allow candle burning up there were it cannot be watched.  Plus, with the mess a teenage girl makes, something is bound to catch on fire.  Anywho, so I got her this warmer and some melts that she can use to make things smell all nice & stuff.  :)

  4.  A Pink sweatshirt & matching socks.  I …

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got my Christmas cards all out last Friday & that people have already been receiving them!  Now, it's my turn to receive some cards to hang on the front door.  I love receiving them & looking at all the smiling faces & reading the fun "family letters" especially from my aunt, Nellie.  :)

I am thankful...that I got to have a nice evening with my mom & her boyfriend last night.  I had to drop off Sunshine's Christmas gift & pick up her pet carrier so I could take all three cats to the vet this morning so she fed me one of my favorite meals that I never get to have at home - tuna casserole.  & then when I got home, Jill was on her way over so I chatted with her, helped Sunshine with her outfit for tomorrow (she has to dress up as the gymnastics team has a meet this weekend) & then to bed to read & such.

I am thankful...for this coloring book that I got Trouble as part of her Christmas present.  I looked through it yes…

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli &/or April.

My five this week is ways to stay warm when it's frickin' freezin' in Central Wisconsin.

  1.  Drinking warm beverages - coffee, cocoa, tea.  Add some Rum Chata or Baileys for a lil extra warmth.

  2.  Set yourself on fire...or sit really close to a fire &/or space heater.

  3.  Take a long hot bath maybe enjoy your warm beverage as like Olaf is doing.

  4.  Bundle up like Randy does in A Christmas Story - "I can't put my arms down!"

  5.  Just stay in your nice warm bed snuggled up with your cats & a good book or Netflix.
