It's Wednesday So That Means...

This linkup is called Weekly Lessons & the hosts are Mattie and Lex.  So, if you wanna join in, hope on over to linkup!  :)

Mandie's Weekly Lessons:

  1.  Simple gestures mean a lot.  Yesterday was my grandmother's birthday & since they had gone out for a big lunch, we had decided that I would just pick up a treat.  So, I ended up getting some delicious goodies from Culver's - large orders of fries, onion rings & cheese curds & then a Turtle Sundae for each one of us.  Then I gave her my gift & I did a photo album of just her kids, grandkids & great grandkids.  It was a hit!  She loved it!  Yippee!  My grandfather had said that she had a great day yesterday & I'm happy for that.

  2.  Being back in school is good.  Leading up to getting back into school, Sunshine was not so sunny but now that she's been back, she's been better.  I don't know if she's like me & needs to be on a set schedule or what but she has been more delightful now that she's back in school with team gymnastics starting up next week.

  3.  Going home for lunch leads to disasters.  Today was the first since school ended that I went home for lunch.  I typically take a "Parking Lot Lunch" & read my book in the comfort of my vehicle but since Sunshine was in school & Paul was at work, I went home to start dinner in the crock.  With that, I started opening the can of green beans instead of the cream of mushroom soup.  Then I decided to boil these lil warmers that Paul got me & he had found the bag that they came with that we were suppose to be using to boil them so I used that (we had been just wrapping them in a towel).  Well, the bag meant to be used to boil the warmers melted which then melted one of the warmers.  I was pissed!  Paul believes that they under a life time warranty & he'll be contacting someone about it.  So, yea, I hope this isn't an indication of how lunches at home will be.  I didn't even get a chance to start my book!  :(

So, what are some lessons you've learned this week?

  1. Oh my gosh...I live in the Northwest and I visited the midwest (Madison, Green Bay, and Minneapolis) in June for a week and I think we went to Culver's...four times? It became my favorite thing ever and I think the closest one is in Utah or something which is just sad.

I hope you'll get replacements/a full refund for your warmers! So frustrating.

    Thanks for linking up!!!

    1. Well, I guess that I'll just have to send you some Culver's to enjoy! The closest one is about a five/ten minute drive from my house. It's actually my stepdaughter's favorite place to eat. So delish! :)

    1. Thank you! I really made her day with some cheese curds from Culver's. :)

  3. You are so right about simple gestures—what a great gift you gave your grandmother! I’m the same way with schedule changes… not so fun, but once the new schedule is set I’m happy again haha. Thanks for linking up!

P.S. I hope you can start your book soon!

    1. I was able to start The Girl on the Rain & per my Kindle app, I'm 20% through it & I just wanna keep reading. I want some answers, dang it! :)

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli (I like the new button, by the way!) &/or Liz.

My five this week are five Christmas gifts that I got for Sunshine.
  1.  Adidas pants.  I had more thing to get her & she mentioned at her gymnastics meeting that she wanted a pair of these.  I got online & picked her up a pair ending my Christmas shopping for her.
  2.  Paper lanterns.  They were on sale one day at The Walmart & I couldn't resist getting them for her to hang in her bedroom.

  3.  A wax warmer & melts.  She has her bedroom upstairs & we don't allow candle burning up there were it cannot be watched.  Plus, with the mess a teenage girl makes, something is bound to catch on fire.  Anywho, so I got her this warmer and some melts that she can use to make things smell all nice & stuff.  :)

  4.  A Pink sweatshirt & matching socks.  I …

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got my Christmas cards all out last Friday & that people have already been receiving them!  Now, it's my turn to receive some cards to hang on the front door.  I love receiving them & looking at all the smiling faces & reading the fun "family letters" especially from my aunt, Nellie.  :)

I am thankful...that I got to have a nice evening with my mom & her boyfriend last night.  I had to drop off Sunshine's Christmas gift & pick up her pet carrier so I could take all three cats to the vet this morning so she fed me one of my favorite meals that I never get to have at home - tuna casserole.  & then when I got home, Jill was on her way over so I chatted with her, helped Sunshine with her outfit for tomorrow (she has to dress up as the gymnastics team has a meet this weekend) & then to bed to read & such.

I am thankful...for this coloring book that I got Trouble as part of her Christmas present.  I looked through it yes…

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli &/or April.

My five this week is ways to stay warm when it's frickin' freezin' in Central Wisconsin.

  1.  Drinking warm beverages - coffee, cocoa, tea.  Add some Rum Chata or Baileys for a lil extra warmth.

  2.  Set yourself on fire...or sit really close to a fire &/or space heater.

  3.  Take a long hot bath maybe enjoy your warm beverage as like Olaf is doing.

  4.  Bundle up like Randy does in A Christmas Story - "I can't put my arms down!"

  5.  Just stay in your nice warm bed snuggled up with your cats & a good book or Netflix.
