Musical Monday/Weekend Update...

Musical Monday - Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails.  I've been on a real 90's kick lately & on Sunday I was listening to some NIN & this song has just been stuck in my brain.  :)

Weekend Update -

Friday:  I started my weekend off with a trip to the grocery store where all good weekends begin.  Ha!  Then I got home, unloaded the groceries & then headed out to dinner with the hubby.

We enjoyed a drink at the bar before being seated.  We got a cheeseboard to start things off & then he got Surf & Turf Kabobs & I got a Chicken Caesar Sandwich.  Everything was delcious & I was so full that I didn't have room for a malt from a local ice cream place.  :(

We then went home to watch Now You See Me 2.  You can read my review here.  Then it was off to bed where I couldn't fall asleep because I kept playing in my head conversations to have with Trouble as she wanted to see me sometime during the weekend "to make things right".  In case you are new here, Trouble is my eighteen year old stepdaughter who after many problems with, we had to kick her out of the house last November.  Her & I had not spoken face-to-face since January & the last correspondence from her was a Facebook message on Valentine's Day telling me to stay out of her life.  So, yea, needless to say I was pretty anxious/nervous about how this would go.

Saturday:  Paul & I got up & started our day with a trip to Walmart to pick up a few things - return some unders for him, get a shelf for me, a new Blu-Ray player for the bedroom & then some work pants for him.  After that, I came home to shower up & then headed out to my aunt & uncle's to watch the Badger game with my cousin, her husband & this cutie:

We were working on rolling over.  He would SO close but just wouldn't get there.  I told him that we were not going home until he did it...he didn't but we all went home anyway.  Tee hee!

Sunday:  got up early (I couldn't sleep) & started my chores for the day.  I got my new shelf by our bed organized & looking pretty, went through some clothes & got rid of some, made Potato Soup, watched the Packer game & talked with Trouble.  To make a long story, short:  we cried, told each other we missed the other & I asked her if she was beginning to see the light.  She said that she was & that she had a full-time job & that she just wants to fix things.  It wasn't a long conversation but it was a start & that's what I told Paul.  It's not like her & I are gonna be going shopping or anything tomorrow but we can work towards that.  She has a lot of making up to do.  After she left, it was more football, some Jimmy Fallon, coloring & such before Fear the Walking Dead, reading & bed.

So, I guess a pretty decent weekend.  :)

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli (I like the new button, by the way!) &/or Liz.

My five this week are five Christmas gifts that I got for Sunshine.
  1.  Adidas pants.  I had more thing to get her & she mentioned at her gymnastics meeting that she wanted a pair of these.  I got online & picked her up a pair ending my Christmas shopping for her.
  2.  Paper lanterns.  They were on sale one day at The Walmart & I couldn't resist getting them for her to hang in her bedroom.

  3.  A wax warmer & melts.  She has her bedroom upstairs & we don't allow candle burning up there were it cannot be watched.  Plus, with the mess a teenage girl makes, something is bound to catch on fire.  Anywho, so I got her this warmer and some melts that she can use to make things smell all nice & stuff.  :)

  4.  A Pink sweatshirt & matching socks.  I …

Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful...that I got my Christmas cards all out last Friday & that people have already been receiving them!  Now, it's my turn to receive some cards to hang on the front door.  I love receiving them & looking at all the smiling faces & reading the fun "family letters" especially from my aunt, Nellie.  :)

I am thankful...that I got to have a nice evening with my mom & her boyfriend last night.  I had to drop off Sunshine's Christmas gift & pick up her pet carrier so I could take all three cats to the vet this morning so she fed me one of my favorite meals that I never get to have at home - tuna casserole.  & then when I got home, Jill was on her way over so I chatted with her, helped Sunshine with her outfit for tomorrow (she has to dress up as the gymnastics team has a meet this weekend) & then to bed to read & such.

I am thankful...for this coloring book that I got Trouble as part of her Christmas present.  I looked through it yes…

Friday Five...

Why, hello, everyone.  'Tis that day of the week when we all pick five things to talk about.  So, if you would like to linkup you can head on over to Karli &/or April.

My five this week is ways to stay warm when it's frickin' freezin' in Central Wisconsin.

  1.  Drinking warm beverages - coffee, cocoa, tea.  Add some Rum Chata or Baileys for a lil extra warmth.

  2.  Set yourself on fire...or sit really close to a fire &/or space heater.

  3.  Take a long hot bath maybe enjoy your warm beverage as like Olaf is doing.

  4.  Bundle up like Randy does in A Christmas Story - "I can't put my arms down!"

  5.  Just stay in your nice warm bed snuggled up with your cats & a good book or Netflix.
