Thankful Thursday...

Damn, it's Thursday again?!  Where does the time go?!  Geez!  Well, here's what I'm thankful for on this 19th day of March:

  1.  My Little Mermaid necklace.  I got this from Paul back in February from Hot Topic, I'm so in love with it & want to wear it all the time.

  2.  Planned weekends away.  Again, the hubby & I are venturing out of town for the weekend.  The girls are going off to friends' houses with the grandparents acting as taxi drivers.  We are gonna stay in a hotel on Friday night after seeing Insurgent & hitting the martini bar.  Saturday, we are headed to "the thumb of Wisconsin" to celebrate "C"'s birthday party with the family & then going out after the young ones are settled in bed (the grandparents will be there, don't worry - ha!).  I'm actually really excited.

  3.  Nice words.  Trouble had an appointment with her social worker yesterday & Paul told me that she said nice things about me - "Mandie is the best mother figure I have".  I'm just really hopeful that she has been scared enough that she has fully removed her head from her ass.  I know that she'll still make mistakes but it's what she learns from them & how she takes the consequences, she never did well in that arena.  So, I guess we'll see but it was nice to hear that she said nice things about me.

  1. That comment "Mandie is the best mother figure I have" speaks volumes! Even if she stumbles and acts like she has forgotten ever saying is MAJOR that she has said it. It came from somewhere. I think it's a step in the right direction. Even IF she takes two steps forward, three steps back, one forward, one back, two forward (you get my drift), it IS a step in the right direction.

    1. I hope so, I really hope so. I so want the girl I once knew back - the kind girl, the loving girl. My fingers are crossed, that's for sure.

Happy 34th Birthday To Me...

Since tomorrow is my 34th birthday, I decided in celebration of it, I should list 34 facts about me.  So, here we go:

1.  For lunch today, I had a Big Grab bag of Funyuns, a bottle of Dew & some mini-Snickers.  I'm all about my health today, it seems.  :|

2.  I bought my first pair of leggings today since I was about 12.  They are for working out & they were on clearance.

3.  Speaking of leggings, I so badly want the tattoo version of them.  You know how the complete coverage of the arm in tattoos is called a "sleeve", I started calling the complete coverage of the leg in tattoos a "legging".  Ha!

4.  I've seen every episode of Friends at least ten times.  Paul will turn it on when it's on TV & test me on what episode it is...I'm rarely wrong.

5.  I really, really, really want to go back to Vegas real soon.  I'm almost half-tempted to ask Paul if we can go there for our second anniversary.

6.  I pretty much have tiny panic attacks on a da…

Words of Wisdom Wednesday...

True frickin' dat!  The old phrase "think before you speak" comes to mind.  I know that sometimes emotions get the best of us & we don't think things through before we let words leave our lips.  Sometimes those words can be hurtful, embarrassing or lovable.  Lovable doesn't seem to be one that comes to mind, I'm sure, but I remember the first time that Goose told me that he loved me.  He didn't think it through & those three lil words came flying outta his mouth at a birthday party in an old friend's living room.  I could not believe it but those words were already out in the universe.

I doubt that Goose would change anything now but at the time, it scared him to say those words & he probably would have thought it through a little better but, in that case, I'm glad that he didn't.

However, I'm really trying to get the girls to think before they speak & I tell them that once words leave their lips, they may have it off thei…
