The thing I'm gonna talk about today is today's youth.  I got a message from Sunshine yesterday that simply said: "Mandie we have a problem".  That was it, nothing more even after I messaged back.  So, of course, history with her sister has me worked up that she did something wrong.  I am looking at the school family access site to check to see if there was anything there.  I then get a call on my cell from the school while I was talking with a client.  Then a call comes through the office phone & it's the Vice Principal from the school & he has Sunshine in his office.  I instantly started shaking & about to have a heart attack.

Well, he started off by telling me that Sunshine was not in trouble but that she wanted to call me to let me know what happened at school.  Apparently, her math teacher requires the students to put their phones in a bin upon coming into his classroom (awesome!) & when it was time to retrieve her phone, it was gone.  The teacher held everyone in the classroom until finally someone fessed up.  Some lil punk stole her phone, went to the bathroom with it & stripped it of the case & her ID's (temps & student).  Luckily, they were able to retrieve everything back & the kid will not only be getting consequences through the school but will be referred to the police liaison at the school.

The kid told the VP that he took the phone so he could sell it for $20 because he needed money.  My response to that, get a job if you need money, don't you dare take my stepdaughter's phone.  Oh, I was so mad.  The VP told me before getting off the phone that Sunshine is a good student & did as she should have & that she loves me very much.

There is a lesson here & I will be going over it with Sunshine tonight:  don't take shit that doesn't belong to you!  Now, she knows how it feels.  It's not like she takes things that aren't hers except when it comes to her sister's stuff.  If she's at Paul's parents' (where Trouble lives) & she sees something of Trouble's that she wants, she takes it.  I know that it's a sister thing but maybe this will make her think twice about doing that.

Kids nowadays...ugh...

  1. That is horrible you guys had to deal with this. I love the idea of the teacher taking the phones, maybe he needs to find a better spot to put them so other kids can't steal them. It is unfortunate this happened though.

    1. My thoughts exactly but I think after this lil debacle, he'll be putting the bin somewhere else. She told me last night that she was so upset over the whole thing but that she was glad she got it back & that the kid who took it will have consequences.

Happy 34th Birthday To Me...

Since tomorrow is my 34th birthday, I decided in celebration of it, I should list 34 facts about me.  So, here we go:

1.  For lunch today, I had a Big Grab bag of Funyuns, a bottle of Dew & some mini-Snickers.  I'm all about my health today, it seems.  :|

2.  I bought my first pair of leggings today since I was about 12.  They are for working out & they were on clearance.

3.  Speaking of leggings, I so badly want the tattoo version of them.  You know how the complete coverage of the arm in tattoos is called a "sleeve", I started calling the complete coverage of the leg in tattoos a "legging".  Ha!

4.  I've seen every episode of Friends at least ten times.  Paul will turn it on when it's on TV & test me on what episode it is...I'm rarely wrong.

5.  I really, really, really want to go back to Vegas real soon.  I'm almost half-tempted to ask Paul if we can go there for our second anniversary.

6.  I pretty much have tiny panic attacks on a da…

Words of Wisdom Wednesday...

True frickin' dat!  The old phrase "think before you speak" comes to mind.  I know that sometimes emotions get the best of us & we don't think things through before we let words leave our lips.  Sometimes those words can be hurtful, embarrassing or lovable.  Lovable doesn't seem to be one that comes to mind, I'm sure, but I remember the first time that Goose told me that he loved me.  He didn't think it through & those three lil words came flying outta his mouth at a birthday party in an old friend's living room.  I could not believe it but those words were already out in the universe.

I doubt that Goose would change anything now but at the time, it scared him to say those words & he probably would have thought it through a little better but, in that case, I'm glad that he didn't.

However, I'm really trying to get the girls to think before they speak & I tell them that once words leave their lips, they may have it off thei…
